I was blessed to be awarded to third at the RPM show by a jury of my peers with one of the two that I had. I'm sorry that I don't remember which car it was. I based the car on photos in the Western Pacific HS Headlight years ago. I researched the ends, changed them and made numerous upgrades to the base kit (now produced by Athearn). The load is removable and you will absolutely need an idler flat when moving this load. It looked great in a train. It was fun to put two back to back. Weathering is something that we wanted subtle, so most cars that you see here are cars that blend into the train, to give the train a good look, not draw specific attention to the car itself... our goal is to see the forest for the trees.Truth or Dare? Truth. What does this mean? It means that this custom car is a reasonably close or dead match to a prototype. You can readily find photos of it on line or in books. You will rarely find a bogus car from me, if I have one, I'll claim it as a "Dare." There sure seem to be many caricatures of equipment out there (40' steam era boxcars with modern graffiti?! P-S TBOXs?! Really?!). Get real. read more
