Real cute pair of Goldscheider chicks. I am almost certain that these were designed by Auguste Jacob who designed most of the birds for Stangl. He also designed for Gort, Goldscheider and Pennsbury. In the past I have sold at least two Goldscheider birds designed by him. Ebay item number 130125923608 closed on June 24th. It is a piece similar to mine with two chicks and a snail. Mine has no snail. It is a beautiful Gort piece designed by Jacob. Please see picture # 2 which is a picture of that piece with bottom stamp. I thank the seller of that item, hoyajeff56 , who has given me his permission to include these pictures in my listing. My chicks are approx. 2-1/2" tall and the base is approx. 5" from side to side. It is stamped with the Goldscheider stamps plus the letter J under glaze, as shown in my photo. This piece has no chips, cracks, dings or repairs. The yellow chick has what looks like a fine dust ring under the glaze on the back of the neck. I have tried to show this in photo # 3. This was something that occurred during the manufacturing process and does not take away from the beauty of this great piece. Please feel free to e-mail me with any questions. Money back guarantee. Buyer to prepay and also pay $7.00 for insured shipping by priority mail. No sales outside the USA. Payment can be with PayPal, a money order or a personal check. Shipping may be delayed until a personal check clears. PS. Goldscheider has made porcelains in three places. The family left Vienna in 1938 and started factories in England and in Trenton, New Jersey. The New Jersey factory started in 1940 as Goldscheider-U.S.A. In 1941 it became Goldscheider-Everlast Corporation. From 1947 to 1953 it was Goldcrest Ceramics Corporation. In 1950 the Vienna plant was returned to Mr. Goldscheider and the company continues in business. The Trenton, New Jersey, business, now called Goldscheider of Vienna, imports all of the pieces.
