THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PIECES OF JEWELRY YOU WILL EVER SEE
The company in Czechoslovakia that made this exquisite necklace was put out of business permanently during the regime of Adolf Hitler so that the workers could make metal war materials. Only recently have some of these pieces become available after being hidden away in Gablonz since before World War II, recently stealing the show at the International Glass Exhibition, and appearing in private gallery showings in the United States. This particular necklace was purchased from a very reputable seller. This is one of the largest and heaviest Czecho/SBK necklaces. It has the most beautiful Bohemian glass I am sure I have ever seen. The emerald and sapphire frosted glass pieces are etched/embossed by hand. Huge faceted amethyst glass stones and very large, heavy faceted crystals in pale blue, emerald, peridot, bi-colored rose/peridot, huge clear chatons, embossed brass repousse cameos toward the top of the necklace, and a rhinestone clasp are but a few of the details of this (in my opinion) museum-quality necklace. The pendant of a beautiful Edwardian woman is intended to be the focus of this necklace, surrounded by many, many glass beads, crystals and rhinestones. Take a look at the closeup photograph of the cameo glass; you may be surprised at the depth of the hand-crafted glass. Some of the crystals are 1 3/4 inches long, including some in the palest shade of pink. The cameo piece including its fabulous crystals is 9 3/4 inches high and nearly three inches wide! The necklace is 18 1/2 inches long -- add to that the 9 3/4 inches of the pendant. The soldering on the back is quite heavy. I researched this with a Canadian vintage jewelry seller who confirmed that this was what the Czechs called "hard soldering" which was used between 1920 and 1940. Some of the small brass connectors between the sections of the necklace are not soldered but are heavy brass. The back is *triple signed:* CZECHO, SBK AND THE INITIAL "C," which was the first letter of the surname of the maker. Shipping and insurance costs will be higher on this item due to its weight, difficultly to pack and overall value. International shipping will include the cost of Registered Mail, which is $7.90 US and has already been included in the shipping cost. No need to use superlatives to describe this -- it's over the top, and would be a wonderful heirloom to pass down to a family member. Thank you very much for visiting our eBay store.
