Guaranteedold, this wonderful gold-washed brass and amethyst class necklace was acquiredas part of a small cache of lovely jewelry that an acquaintance of mine recently inherited from her 88-year-old aunt. Combining elements of both Art Nouveau and Art Deco, it was likely made in the 1920s or '30s. Everything about this lovely necklace, which I am quite confident is Czech-made, is just right, from the lovely filigree central drop with a central faceted "stone, three faceted amethyst glass beads hanging from it and one round bezel-set "stone" capping it off. The piece to which the central drop is attached is especially fitted for that purpose, with rings on either side for a single connecting ring and all of the other similar looking pieces having two connecting rings on either end.The necklace itself is 16 in. long (including the spring clasp) and the central drop itself is 2 ¾ in. long and just shy of 1 in. wide at its widest point. Condition of this pretty necklace is very good, with wear to the gold wash on the reverse side (more so on the pieces with the bezel-set amethyst glass than the filigree pieces). Also, the spring clasp looks like a slightly different shade of gold-tone than the necklace itself although it's not brand new shiny. Perhaps the clasp was replaced at some point by a previous owner.
