This is a MUSEUM-QUALITY piece! Read on please.BORSKE SKLO was a famous pre-World War II glass making factory in the Bohemia part of Czechoslovakia. Designer Max Kannegiesser created this "colored optic glass" called "NEMO" or "Thousand Eye"----which was mold-blown and hand-finished with glowing enamels. It is 12 inches tall and 8 inches diameter. It is almost certainly crystal (from the sound and clarity) but not marked as such. The pedestal has 16 strings of prisms (on one string, one of its 4 small "prisms" is missing---identical matches are quite common and easily replaceable, if you wish). As for museum quality? First, just about every single piece of "NEMO" glass is chipped. The glass is hard, the edges thin, and many pieces were used as vases, punchbowls, etc. This example has not a single, slightest chip anywhere! (THAT is the reason that I believe the asking price is a reasonable one.) The other fact is that Kannegiesser was also a Communist secret police spy with a fascinating background, and a piece linked to a story like that is in my opinion priceless.THIS one will be very, VERY carefully packed (it unscrews into several parts).SHIPPING AND HANDLING: Ebay might list a shipping price, but it is not correct.
