We are beginning to list some Valentine goodies and will begin with this extraordinarily beautiful glass and rhinestone teardrop hatpin. The piece is conical and consists of three teardrops of czech glass (deep purple) each of which is hand set and completely surrounded by .5 K rhinestones. This is a true collector's dream and a beautiful jewel sculpture all on its own. The top jewelled portion measures 2" and the very thick and sturdy pin part measures 6" for a total of 8". I am estimating this piece to be Edwardian. A hatpin as heavy as this one was not needed to keep a hat in place and was often used for self defense purposes. It is in perfect condition with no flaws or yellowing of the stones at all. Also, each rhinestone is in its own setting and separately attached to the handcrafted setting around the teardrop. This is indeed an exceptional piece and will immediately elevate a so-so collection to outstanding.
