Description We're auctioning A SPECTACULAR, authentic Art Deco BRONZE sculpture of a SEMI-NUDE FEMALE IN FULL LENGTH CLOAK mounted on a black marble base. This is a GREAT original work by noted Romanian sculptor working in Paris, DEMETRE. H. CHIPARUS (1886-1947), the "MASTER OF ART DECO". This work is in EXCELLENT CONDITION. The bronze captures the style of the height of the art deco movement in Paris with the bold, alluring portrait in a neo-classic pose with a flowing robe. The piece stands 16 1/2" height ; the black marble base is 4 1/2" x 4 1/2". The sharp clear signature is found on the base above the marble. This is a very special work by a master of Art Deco bronze sculpture. The piece is in excellent condition. The marble base has one small nick (see pics), but does not detract from the quality of the piece. Demetre H. Chiparus was born in Romania in 1886 and traveled to Paris before World War I to become more involved with his artwork. He attended school in Italy and at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, and he exhibited at the Salon in 1914. He produced most of his renowned works between 1914 and 1933. Demetre Chiparus worked primarily with the Etling Foundry in Paris, and he died in Pairs in 1947. If paying by money order please make sure you include the auction number and description on the money order. Follow the directions that you will receive in the invoice. All items picked up are subject to a $4.00 handling fee. Payment must be received within 5 days of the close of auction. We reserve the right to relist items that are not paid within 5 days.
