2 Daguerreotypes 1840s BEARD Same Man This is a pair of Daguerreotypes of the same man and dating to the 1840s. I have listed a similar lot his week from the same source, that may feature the man's wife, a woman named Margaret Middleton. Each of the images is contained in a leatherette case and each has a gilt surround. One has 'Beard Patentee' on the lower edge of the gilt surround and also has a deep case with a domed lid. The other is in a shallower larger case and has no gilt surround. The images are 2 inches (51mm) x 1 1/2 inches (38mm) and 3 inches (76mm) x 2 inches (63mm). The Beard image has lost a little contrast and has some oxidation marks around the edges and some very light wipe marks to the plate.
