DESCRIPTION/STONES: Solid CarvedTurquoise Eagle

MEASURMENT: 2-5/8" tall by 1-1/2" at widest point by 1-3/8" deep

MEANING: Eagle is the guardian fetish of the Upper region. Eagle carries the power of intuition and creativeness, along with the powers of healing and spirit. His spirit transcends personal problems and he symbolizes becoming one with the Greater Spirit. He represents vision and higher truths.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The Zuni Indians are one of 19 tribes that originally inhabited the area of New Mexico and Arizona . Thought to be one of the few direct descendants of the ancient Anasazi, the Zuni have managed to remain fairly unaffected by outside influences. The Zuni are deeply traditional people who have lived by irrigated agriculture and now by the sale of traditional crafts. Their location is relatively isolated, but they welcome respectful tourists. Carved stone animal fetishes, jewelry, needlepoint, petitpoint and pottery are popular items. Many Zuni are master silversmiths and have perfected the skill of stone cutting and inlay. They found using less of a stone and by cutting stones individually and setting them to fit close together they were able to make intricate designs in unique patterns.
