This listing is for an original Dale Messick Brenda Starr Daily Comic Strip Original Art Chicago Tribune that ran on 3/11/75 it is ink on artist cardstock 14-1/5” x 5” in fine condition. Signed in the second panel Dale Messick . Artist : Dale Messick Title Brenda Starr Year: 1975 Medium: Original Ink Drawing on Illustration Board Size: 15-1/2”x5” Condition is very good. Brenda Starr, Reporteroften referred to simply as Brenda Starr was a comic strip about a glamorous, adventurous female reporter . It was created in 1940 by Dale Messick for the Chicago Tribune Syndicate .Although set in Chicago , Brenda Starr, Reporter initially was the only Chicago Tribune Syndicate strip not to appear in the Chicago Tribune itself. When the strip debuted June 30, 1940, it was relegated to a comic book supplement that was included with the Sunday Chicago Tribune . Soon the strip appeared in the Sunday paper and a daily strip was added in 1945. During the 1950s, at the height of its popularity, the strip appeared in 250 newspapers. In 2010, the strip appeared in 65 newspapers with 36 being international papers. Dalia Messick (April 11, 1906 – April 5, 2005) was an American comic strip artist who used the pseudonym Dale Messick . She was the creator of Brenda Starr , which at its peak during the 1950s ran in 250 newspapers.She was born in South
