Martin Riskin was born in NY into a family consisting of numerous musicians, the most prominent being Jascha Heifetz. Heifetz' father was Martin't violin teacher and gave up when, at the age of 8, Martin exhibited a complete lack of talent. Martin graduated from the Bronx High School of Science and the City College of NY. After service overseas with the U.S. Army, he entered the hotel field, becoming the Director of Banquets at the St. Regis, Pierre , Plaza, and Waldorf= Astoria , then General Manager of the Lotos Club. Following that, Martin became the head of Schenley Imported Wines and then the President of L'Aiglon Wine and Spirits Import Company. After this he became the U.S. consultant for Remy Martin and other wine and spirits companies. In 1991 he founded Amaris, Ltd., which produces customized compact discs of music for leading hotels and international airlines. In the musical world, he was a founder of the NY Youth Symphony, the Puccini Foundation, the Sibelius Society, the Massenet Society, and the The World of Musicians. Martin also served on the boards of the Concert Artists Guild, American Landmark Festivals and other organizations such as the Manhattan Theatre Club.
