Dances of Vaslav Nijinsky Pochoir Print 1913, Pochoir Print by Barbier Exquisite Art Deco, Stunning and Scarce Description: Designs on the Dances of Vaslav Nijinsky is a magnificent folio of the performing arts. The fourteen prints feature the great ballet dancer Vaslav Nijinsky. The prints are completed in pochoir by George Barbier. The print suite features great dance performances by Nijinksy with the Ballet Russes. Several prints are highlighted and embellished in gold and black. T were only 400 print sets created in 1913. Artist: George Barbier (1882 – 1932) studied at the Ecole des Beaux under Jean-Paul Laurens. He began his art career as a costume and set designer of the Ballet Russes. Along with Erte and Icart, Barbier achieved status as one of the finest artists of the Art Deco period. Barbier's exuberant use of color and technique captured this period. Barbier achieved mastery of the pochoir technique and used it extensively in his work. While known as a fashion and design illustrator he also developed an in Greek classic art through his love of antiquities. He employed his unique interpretation with a art deco style successfully in several albums which are reminiscent of Etruscan and Attica vase painting.
