I will start by saying I am not the World's best photographer, so I found this vase so difficult to photograph and do it the justice it deserves... I love this beautiful tall large primarily dark (cobalt) blue vase made by the Danico company of Denmark in the 1920's. Unfortunately I'm lacking in space for it now as I'm downsizing soon but have to say it looks wonderful with Casablanca lilies in it! It has wonderful art nouveau type swirls (skonvirke) of plant life in a deep green with orange berries from the base up towards the top of the pot. The colours are very difficult to see and even more difficult to photograph so again my apologies for my less than professional photography! Inside the top of the vase is a medium brown glaze with either a black or very dark blue swirl line around it. The brown continues inside to the base of the vase. It is a high gloss glaze on both the inside and outside. The ceramic factory D A N I C O was founded by Niels Peter Nielsen in 1919 in Egebjerg outside Horsens in Jutland he closed in 1929 to amalgamate with another pottery. The items from Danico are often, but not always stamped with a pressed DANICO. They are always marked with a number, this one is 266 so is an early pot. The guideline is that the numbers from 1 to 499 and from 800 and up, are from DANICO, while the numbers from 500 to read more
