DATES- 1950's-60's ARTIST- Danielle Dhumez MEDIUM- Oil on panel DESCRIPTION- Recently discovered in a private Parisian collection is this charming and well handled French Post-Impressionist street scene by the talented and well listed artist Danielle Dhumez b1910. Dhumez is an extremely interesting artist who was hailed at the time as being an important figure in the stained glass movement in France called "Le Gemmail". She worked alongside Pierre Ambrogiani, Rene Margotton, Jean Carzou and Jean Crotti in producing some quite unique pieces and it is said that Picasso was a great admirer of the movement. Dhumez paintings are reasonably difficult to find and it is only recently that she is becoming recognised for the superb artist that she was. Dhumez first started exhibiting in Paris in 1951 and she was prolific abroad- showing her works in Sweden, Denmark, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and an important exhibition of modern art in New York, America.
