Up for auction is a nice Cado Wall System fresh from the original owner. This is an earlier type system with wooden pegs and the very desirable wooden support brackets. T are two sliding door cabinets that measure 18" deep. T is one shelf or flat desk surface, with support brackets, that measures 18" deep. A very nice locking cabinet, with flip down desk original lock and key, is also part of this set (has an interesting slide out "record player" tray). The best part is the set has two spring loaded poles that can support cabinets and or shelves, on either or both sides, in a standard room with 8' ceiling. No drilling or screws required. I set the unit up, for the photo shoot, in about 30 minutes. It is nice having it away from the wall to give additional dimension. In addition t is a third pole, that is just like the other two, but a little longer(I suspect this was to be cut to length for special ceiling height). If you made up some endpieces and purchase a spring (probably get this stuff from Mcmaster Carr or some other industrial supply) you can have three spring loaded support poles that will be a fantastic wall divider system or extension of the wall system. Cut the third pole in half (yikes),make some legs or a base, you will have a neat freestanding CADO cabinet/desk/shelf (remember these poles have the hole pattern down both sides). Heck saw the spare in half lengthwise, drill a four countersunk mounting holes, and you will have a super nice pair of "original" wall brackets. Rip all three poles lengthwise and end up with six wall brackets (a five wide system that's over 12' of Cado). The poles are way more than twice the thickness of the original wall brackets so It would be no problem to exactly duplicate the original wall brackets with two rip cuts on the table saw and four counter sunk holes in each support. BTW unlike the wall supports ,I ended up using myself, the hole patterns in the poles are free of cracks and splits (very nice indeed). Also included are a couple of extra 18" shelf brackets one, of which, will have to be glued back together along with some dowel repair (unfortunately no shelf to go with them). Lastly t are a couple of wall brackets, shown in the photos, that are not part of this auction. Although I see no CADO markings on the pieces I believe the early ones, like this, were not marked. The original owner purchased this from a store named Anton Domm, in Copenhagen, circa 1962 as a CADO system. Some components have made in Denmark stamped on them some have made in Denmark paper labels. T are some condition issues that will have to be addressed: The backs of both large cabinets will need some gluing and dowel replacing. It may also be nice to clean up the cutouts or replace the back panels in those cabinets. The good news is the cabinets are solid. The corners, edges, and seams have not been comprimised. The flip down door of the locking cabinet has a small veneer chip missing on the lower right as can be seen in the photo. The whole setup needs some repair and a good cleaning with oiling/waxing whichever you prefer. T was more to this system but I have chosen to install it in my home. It showed years of use, just like what is in the auction, and some of the wall brackets had considerable damage but I spent a day doing some sanding glueing cleaning and oiling and the result is awesome! BTW, If anyone has any CADO 7" Teak shelf brackets or a glass shelf with the bead in front they want to sell or trade please let me know. This auction is listed as local pickup only. If you wish to bid, and will need this shipped, please contact me at least three days before auction end so we can figure a way to get it done at a reasonable cost.
