ROYAL COPENHAGEN ALUMINIA DINNER PLATES Item Eleven (11) Hand Painted Dinner Plates. 1800's series. Designer Unknown. Date 1952 (1), 1953 (7), 1955(1), 1956 (2).. Made by Royal Copenhagen / Aluminia. Signed On the bottom with typical beehive mark, Denmark , date stamp and firing numbers. Materials Ceramic (porcelain?) Colors Dusty light gray-green background, white stripes, white figural desert cactus drawings with dark brown accents. Each cactus design is different. Sizes Approximately 9 1/2" wide. Condition Very Good . No chips, cracks, repairs. However t is some light crackling or crazing not uncommon with hand painted porcelain of this age. We took a close-up pic of a plate with the most crazing so you could see the worst one - others are less, and in most lighting, is not visible. A rare and lovely mid century modern Scandinavian set of plates that was done in the 1950's by Aluminia / Royal Copenhagen factory in Denmark. These subtle colored pieces would of course complete or start a set and compliment other Scandinavian mid century décor from the Eames era, including work from Gustavsberg under the direction of Stig Lindberg, Rorstrand, Arabia and other famous production houses of the time period.
