There are also a few lesser known companies that have contributed wonderful high quality modern designs for the industrial and office furnishing marketplace. One of these is Steelcase of Grand Rapids, MI and the other is W. H. Gunlocke from Wayland NY. While the two better know companies often won the design awards, all the companies built very high quality products and the lesser know companies even produced some great designs now and then. The quality of Gunlocke can be confirmed by the fact that they won a number or highly competitive contacts over some of the better known companies. They held a number of contracts with the federal Govt. and even the oval office chair used by JFK was produced by Gunlocke. I have had a number of Gunlocke products over the years and can personally attest to their exceptional construction quality. So is the case with these two exquisite upholstered lounge chairs from Gunlocke. They exhibit the same (possibly higher at times) construction standards as knoll or Herman Miller products and from the photos you can clearly see that the designs are also very similar. When I first saw the chairs I was sure they were a Knoll design until I flipped them over and got a look at the Gunlocke badges. These two matching lounge chairs are real knockouts in nearly mint condition. My understanding is that they were situated in an office setting in which they got very little use. After that they went into climate controlled storage. Fabric: The original nubby fabric is virtually perfect. From a distance the pair come off as beige with a hint of pale orange. You can examine the last photo which is a close up of the fabric showing thin lines of pale orange intertwined with cream and beige colors. These colors can work with almost any interior and work especially well with Mid Century and Danish Modern designs. DIMENSIONS : External: Front to back: With the back against the wall, the front of the chair extends 33” Back Height 32” Arms are 21.5” from floor Side to Side 29.5” Leg are 7” Internal: Seat Height = apx. 17” Seat Back Height = 19” Seat Depth = 21” Seat Width = 24.75” CONDITION: Exceptional original condition with no damage or issues of any kind – Just look at the photos. Only upon very close examination can very slight signs of light use be found.
