I do not know how people can raise a family and keep their furniture in such original condition but the owners of this table sure did. The table top barely has a scratch, just some light scuff marks. And I would estimate this table was bought in the 1970's.
This rosewood table has a clean simple round profile of 47" without its leaves. The rounded legs have a slight taper, the rosewood curtain is lightly shaped at the junctions to the legs and the top has beautifully tapered edge moldings. The rosewood graining is relatively straight and clean without a lot of wide graining. The three 19 /2" leaves are beautifully matched in graining that is slightly more figured. As a 47" round, this is a gem of a little table, but with the three center leaves it becomes a bold 103" long oval table. Most unusual is that the center leaves are all a good color match to the rest of the table. All of the leaves have hinged curtains, so when in use, the table has a finished look. And when stored, the leaves are compact. The table adjusts from a 47" round to 66", 86" and 103" oval sizes. Table height is 29" with a chair clearance of 25 1/2". I believe this table was designed by Arne Vodder for Sibast but t are no markings. ( the chair in use with the table are Vodder's by Sibast). This chair set will be listed later this month. The table also features a fold down center support gate, but I can not figure how it operates. The table top has a glossy finish, some type of lacquer, not an oil finish. Shipping or pickup location is Silver Spring, Md.20903 (suburban Washington DC). Blanket wrap shipping to continental USA is $249.00
