I purchased these items recently at a resale shop in a little town in southern Albany County . It is likely they were owned by the same person, perhaps donated by the ownerâe(tm)s estate. These taper holders burn 12âe tall x 1⁄4âe candles, and look enchanting lit on a dining table, like sparklers or twinkling stars. Tapers in many colors are readily available on line. Jens H. Quistgaard (IHQ), a Danish designer who studied with famous Danish silversmith Georg Jensen, was still working when he died earlier this year in his late 80âe(tm)s. His work is in the permanent collections of major museums, including the Metropolitan Museum , the Museum of Modern Art and the Louvre. He and American entrepreneur Ted Nierenberg founded Dansk Designs in the early 1950âe(tm)s. Quistgaard designed the Dansk logo and many of its products over several decades. His silverware and home products designs define the mid-century Danish modern aesthetic in America . They are all in very good used condition, with slight residues of wax that can easily be frozen and gently flaked off. None of the holders is rusted, chipped or nicked. The lighting in the picture makes the metal look âeoefaded,âe but in fact they are all solid black, probably iron. All three have applied âeoepadsâe of a smooth material on the bottom of each spoke or leg which prevents read more
