Dark Picasso stone mined in Utah, hand carved HIPPO WITH 2 BABIES animal carving all one piece, one of a kind you can never get the same stone, color, size, or shape natural stone. Picasso Stoneis a type of marble, a metamorphosed limestone rock of crystallized dolomite or calcite. The colors include a combination of black, rusty-brown, tan yellow, white and shades of gray, the pattern of which creates an abstract landscape. Picasso Stone is named because its color patterns sometimes remind people of the paintings of artist, Pablo Picasso. It is a marble that is only produced in a few locations - one of which is in Utah, USA. Typical colors are browns, grays, black, white, buffs and dark reds.Picasso Stone is rather soft for a gemstone with a hardness of only 3 to 4 on the Mohs Scale. It scratches easily and is best used in jewelry, craft and decorative projects that will not be subject to impact or abrasion.
