ITEM FOR AUCTION: The Collector's Trove has the following lot for auction: Darlene Original Art Flying Pegasus 1979. CONDITION: The condition is FINE- as far as general wear (see NOTES ON CONDITION below). Edges of original have been taped for matting. The original piece is cut very close to the image. The taping overlays the clouds at the right edge and the Pegasus's muzzle at the top edge. Whiteout has been used to enhance the cloud effect. The upper left edge has a 1" split where the tracing paper has pulled away from the tape, but this does not effect the image. DESCRIPTION: This is Darlene's original art flying pegasus from 1979. It is a 2.5 x 2 signed and matted original ink on tracing paper. Fantasy Tablet Art. Sky touched up with white. This is one of the many treasures from the personal collection of Darlene Artist! The Collector's Trove has been authorized to auction this and hundreds of other items from the collection of Darlene. These items were acquired during the last 40 years of Darlene’s professional career, several years of that time spent as a freelance artist creating artwork, lettering, graphics, and maps for TSR, the company that founded the roleplaying game industry. Each numbered lot comes with its own unique Certificate of Authenticity with Darlene’s imprimatur, an image of her own trademarked signature from 1981. N.B. The auction is for the physical artifact only, all intellectual property rights are retained by Darlene Artist. Parties interested in pursuing publication, presentation, or any other public "use" or distribution of her intellectual property must gain the permission of Darlene Artist first. Such contact will be through the seller: Darlene, as you know, is a longtime artist both in and out of the gaming world. Graduating with honors with an art degree from Beloit College in 1976, she went on to study calligraphy in London. She returned to teach calligraphy and continue her study of letters and illustration. Her examination of illuminated manuscripts ultimately shaped her as a Medievalist. Over the next several years she perfected her craft of book, logo, type, and graphic design. Wedding letters to illustration allowed her to create a Medieval authenticity for her fantasy projects. Combined with her perspective of the female form in Medieval and fantasy art, she made an indelible impression in the eyes and minds of fantasy enthusiasts worldwide. Among her numerous achievements and groundbreaking accomplishments: she co-founded the Wisconsin Calligrapher’s Guild, serving as the first editor for Scripsit in 1979, created illustrations and paintings and designed article titles and column mastheads for The Dragon, Dragon Magazine, Dungeon magazine, Little Wars, and Polyhedron, as well as for Aerodrome, The Journal of The Travellers’ Aid Society, The Crusader, and several others. She also created illustrations, graphics, lettering, logos, headings, and watermarks for TSR Periodicals letterhead, stationary, business cards, and advertisements.
