Up for auction is one of the most darling alexander-kins outfits I have seen. This is a very early 1953-1954 jumper dress with attached cotton blouse and bloomers. I obtained the dress in a group of other alexander-kins clothing in which most of the tags were cut out and this dress suffered the same fate. However I have been able to identify a version of this dress and bloomers on page 23 of "The World of Alexander-kins" by Patricia Smith. The book states that the outfit came in other materials which would explain this beautiful variation. It went on to say that the cotton blouse attached to cotton bloomers under jumper dress which buttons down the back could be worn together or separately. I was also able to find another reference to this dress in the "Rare and Hard to Find Madame Alexander Collector's Dolls" by Barbara Jo Mckeon on page 145. In this book it shows the dress with the hat and the dress in the book has an all over flower print that uses the same roses as shown in the dress above. The dress in in fantastic shape and there are no issues that I can report. The hat is also in nice shape however the stitching that went across the bottom of the hat has come out, but it does not detract from the hat in any way. The dolls modeling the dress are not included but can be seen in my other Alexander-kins auctions so check them read more
