Dated 1836 English Needlework Silkwork Sampler

An attractive William IV, English silkwork sampler dated 1836, measuring 12.5 inches x 12 inches wide. Framed in an old wood frame with rippled, old glass. The sampler is worked in silk on canvas ground, in cross stitch throughout. Divider lines in various patterns. Colors are red, cream, pale blue, white, light green yellow and beige. Alphabet A-Z in uppercase nad lower case with numbers 1-9. Verse reads: "The light of truth to us display,And make us know and chose thy way; Plant holy fear in every heart That we from God may ne'er depart." Signed and dated "Jermina Mycock her work Aged 11; 1836" A good set of motifs including parrots, flowers, potted flowering plants, a fruit basket, flowering tress, and crowns. Condition: Good. No holes. No stains other than slight uniform age darkening of the ground. Two lose threads to one divider line. Colors are good and strong with no noticeable fading. No color run. Stretching is slightly uneven. Frame showing slight wear.
