This is an orginal Japanese gold lacquer photograph dated Meiji 20 - 1887, in its original Japanese frame. Their is a layer of black enamel on the sides and the front of the print. Their are two vertical pieces of wood on the back and a piece of wire for hanging as well. The front of the print is very smooth. As you can see from the pictures, the enamel on the top and bottom is cracked. In the "sky" of the gold lacquer photograph, you can see a few water blemishes and miscellanous small scratches, putting this item in "good" condition. The front of the print is not brittle at all and the back is wood. This is a photographic process and a very rare medium. This item is not something one see's everyday. The two stamps on the back of the print are very visible and readable, dated 1887. H.Mizuno is the inventor of the gold lacquer photo process. I have tried to explain this item to the best of my ability and the item is sold "as is", but if you have any questions, feel free to email me. Postal Insurance is included in the shipping cost. I am very sorry to see it go, but times are tuff and sometimes you do, what you have to do. Good Luck to the winner!
