Davis Grubb - The Night of the Hunter. This is a hardcover book with original dust jacket published by Harper and Brothers and is dated 1953. Copyright page shows a "C-D", indicating an early but not a first edition. The book is has some edge/corner wear on the boards, some foxing inside, soiling on the endpages, some page stains, original owner's nameplate on the first blank page, and some general wear from age and storage. The dust jacket is pretty rough with several tears, some very large tears, wrinkling, soiling, stains, and creases. Not price clipped, showing the issue price of $3.00. Also comes with a slipped in publisher's review copy insert dated April 23, 1954, which explains that the book is already slated for a movie starring Robert Mitchum and directed by Charles Laughton.
