Here are 5 consecutive CarolDay originals from the story, Spiros Londos , which began in June 1967. The strips are #3256-3260. Spiros Londos is the sequel to the previous story, Uncle Richard. On the death of her Uncle Richard, Carol inherits the Caribbean island of Gabriela, and in this story she has to protect it from being taken over by a mobster, Spiros Londos. In this sequence, Tim Privett and Doctor Gomez watch Spiros Londos approach Gabriela in their plane, while in London Carol considers whether to listen to Spiros’ offer to buy the island. There are some particularly fine landscape panels of the island in this sequence. A casting note: Jack Wall, David Wright’s agent at Rogers & Co., plays art dealer Lazlo Grunwahl. This was the last Carol Day story worked on by David Wright. He completed the first 55 boards before his death, and as of #3306 the art was taken over by Kenneth Inns, a noted contemporary British illustrator. Size of each is about 20.75 inches by 7.75 inches. Image size is consistently about 5.25 by 18.5 inches. Overall the boards are in excellent condition. Dialog balloons are pasted up. Some mechanical shading is used, as you can see in the scans.
