This ia a Davis Mark 15 Sextant/w Artificial Horizon, made by the Davis Instruments Corp. This device is used for practicing navigation. I'm not familar with this item, so I have taken the following information from one of the books that comes with this device. "The Davis Artificial Horizon is a device for taking sun or moon shots with the sextant without observing the natural or sea horizon. This instrument is particularly useful to students of celestial navigation or experienced navigators who wish to practice taking accurate shots without having to go to a large body of water. With the use of this artificial horizon, observations can even be made outside or through a window of your home." This device comes in its case with instructions.
