DBX 1066 Compressor/Gate/Limiter The Live and Studio Standard is the deal on this unit. I purchased this one (and the other one I have for auction) on Ebay about 18 months ago from a company called True Heart Sound. They seem to specialize in liquidation of live PA rigs. This compressor was in this condition when I purchased it (the pictures they had for the auction I won showed it IN the rack), I am very fastidious about using rack washers so I would never have let one of my units get munged up, I take very good care of my gear. This unit is in much better shape than the other unit I have for auction, I bought them as a pair from True Heart Sound and this is how the pair of them showed up. So I purchased the unit in this condition and while it has some rack rash (mainly on the top), I used it in a rehearsal PA for over a year and it works great, I will guarantee it to not be DOA and that all functions/lights/meters will work. I am selling this and the other unit (see my other auctions) because I have two other DBX 1066's in better shape (one purchased new) and the board we use for our rehearsal PA only has four insert channels.See the pictures for specific details on the condition, the rack rash has no bearing on the function of this unit, and once mounted in a rack you do not see most of it.If you are not familiar with the DBX 1066, it is a GREAT compressor, t is a reason I own four of them but plan on keeping two of them. In particular the gates work fantastic and are very tuneable, I am able to keep a hard hitting drummer 10 feet behind the vocal mics out of the vocal feed with ease, something a lot of "budget" compressors cannot do without a lot of chatter and cutting off of syllables.I actually use one of these units for studio work as well, although they are known more as a live compressor, they have a lot of grab and a bit of character that suits certain sources well in a recording environment. This unit of course features Dbx's patented "overeasy mode" (you can turn it off) which changes the knee shape at the compression point for "less grab" if you want more transparent compression like an Aphex or Drawmer.
