BUTTERFLIES AND A RURAL SILHOUETTE ADORN THIS DECORATED BINDING, VINTAGE 1900!A lengthy and personal authorial inscription embellishes this unique copy by a noted suffragette. Clark, Kate Upson . WHITE BUTTERFLIES AND OTHER STORIES . New York: J.F. Taylor and Company, 1900. First edition. A 12mo volume containing 283 numbered pages. Bound in full olive cloth with silver lettering and multiple white butterflies on the cover, shown against a landscape of distant trees and a cloudy sky. Although unsigned, this composition is believed to be the work of Lee Thayer of The Decorative Designers. A collection of American short stories. [Minsky/2010 #107] Traces of wear to the board extremities, else near-Fine. Neatly written on the front free endpaper is a page-long message by the author to a woman friend, "F.A.W.," containing several references to persons and places in the stories contained in the book. Thus, a unique copy, in near-Fine condition. Scarce in any original form. ABOUT THE ARTISTS The prolific New York design studio known as The Decorative Designers was founded by architect Henry Thayer in 1895.
