De La Rue, with a factory in Fife,Scotland, was a leading maker of fountain pens and writing instruments at the time when this most attractive model 6233 was in the shops from the late 1930s. This fine example is in green marble and is in full working order after a careful service at carneil pens. The Onoto No.3 ST 14 carat gold nib is on the broad side of medium and gives a good strong line when the fountain pen is write tested as a part of the service work. The maker`s impressed marks on the barrel are nice and clear and the gold plating to the "step" clip is in good order, with just some slight brassing to the 2 cap bands. A most attractive fountain pen from an increasingly fashionable maker; with good reason.
