OFFERED WITH NO RESERVE A HIGHLY ATTRACTIVE SCRAPBOOK OF HANDMADE SILHOUETTES DEPICTING THE SCENES AND ACTIVITIES OF A TOUR THROUGH EUROPE IN 1874, OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CONSTRUCTION AND COMPOSITION, AND BOUND IN THE ORIGINAL LATE 19TH CENTURY DARK BLUE POLISHED CALF WITH THE BOURBON ARMS IN GILT UPON BOTH BOARDS. THE VOLUME IS FROM THE LIBRARY OF THE PRINCE & PRINCESS DE LA TOUR D’AUVERGNE-LAURAGUAIS. THE SILHOUETTES IN THIS VOLUME ARE ORIGINAL AND DEPICT THE ACTIVITIES ENGAGED UPON BY THEIR CREATOR (A MEMBER OF THE DE LA TOUR D’AUVERGNE FAMILY) DURING THE COURSE OF A SERIES OF TRAVELS. This highly charming and unique book is titled as follows: “Souvenir / d’un charmant et fragile / travail de la / … De La Tour d’Auvergne / nee Chauvigny de Blot / 1874” THIS SCRAPBOOK ALBUM OF SILHOUETTES IS FROM THE LIBRARY OF THE PRINCE AND PRINCESS HENRI DE LA TOUR D’AUVERGNE-LAURAGUAIS. IN 1916, PRINCE HENRI DE LA TOUR D’AUVERGNE-LAURAGUAIS MARRIED ELISABETH BERTHIER DE WAGRAM, DAUGHTER OF THE THIRD PRINCE DE WAGRAM AND A MEMBER OF THE ROTHSCHILD DYNASTY. The House of De La Tour d’Auvergne includes within its lines the Counts of Auvergne and Boulogne, the Viscounts of Turenne and Princes of Sedan, and the Dukes of Bouillon and Albret. The line of De La Tour d’Auvergne-Lauraguais became in the 1896 the final surviving line of the House of De La Tour d’Auvergne. De La Tour d’Auvergne-Lauraguais are one of only six families (alongside the houses of Savoie, Lorraine, Grimaldi, Rohan and La Tremoille) to be granted the rights and privileges accorded to foreign princes. The volume is complete in itself (i.e. nothing suggests that anything originally present is now missing). The volume measures about 22 cm by 13.5 cm by 1.8 cm; each leaf measures about 210 mm by 130 mm. The volume is bound in late 19th century dark blue calf with the Bourbon arms upon both boards. It is in about excellent condition internally and externally. The hinges and book-block of the binding are very strong; the boards show only mild rubbing at the edges. Internally, the silhouettes are in excellent condition in all cases. This is a highly appealing album of a rare original late 18th century scrapbook – a travelogue done in the form of silhouettes. No shipping is charged for books sold when the reserve is met. For books sold without reserve the shipping amount is charged as follows: For customers outside North America we ship using USPS Priority International. This has proven to be a secure way to ensure delivery to most international locations within 10 days from the mailing date. Most books are shipped using Priority flat rate boxes. Oversized boxes for sets and large folios are calculated using online USPS tools. We charge the USPS rate plus $4.00 per box for no reserve auctions. Of course, it is also entirely possible to arrange shipment by FedEx Priority, immediately following payment , if such a service is desired. For customers within the U.S. we ship Fed Ex ground. Prices are generally reasonable and usually the item arrives within 5 days from the shipping date. Again we can ship using a faster method, from Canada.
