THE GREAT POWERS OFTHE WORLD. By R. Simkin. Published by Dean and Son. 160a Fleet Street. 1888-1902? Dean's Gold Medal Series no 73. A scarce copy of this title, measuring 15 ins x 10 ins. Twelve pages ( including the card covers ) with colourful images of the armies and navies of Japan, Italy, Russia, Germany, The United States, Great Britain, France, China and Austro-Hungary. Illustrations by Richard Simkin, a military artist who was living and working in Aldershot during the latter part of the nineteenth century. He is well-known for his finely detailed paintings of military subjects. In fair condition with embossed figures to the front cover. Covers split and contents more or less loose with some marks to margins and occasional edge wear. All items are carefully packed in book boxes or between clean cardboard. We aim to post the day following payment, whenever possible.
