DEATH COMES FOR THE ARCHBISHOP by Willa Cather Published by Alfred A. Knopf in 1927 - First Edition - Fifth Printing (December 1927) This is Willa Cather's classic study of the attempt by two French priests to build a cathedral in Santa Fe in the mid-nineteenth century and their contacts with the Spanish and Pueblo cultures of New Mexico. The book is in acceptable to good condition; the cover is clean although faded, with obvious shelf wear with scuffing and minor bumping. The spine is tight and the pages are easily readable with some yellowing. The owner's name is on the inside cover. There is no dust jacket. This is an early printing of a classic work of historical fiction and it would be an excellant addition to anyone's book collection. The book is about 5-1/4" x 7-3/4" x 1-1/4", 303 pages, and about 1-2 lbs.+/- with packaging.
