Death Plaque to Pte 7046 Reginald H Gould 15th Btn Royal Fusiliers Civil Service Rifles. Killed in Action 15th Nov 1916. Son of W H Gould of Church Walk Melksham, Wiltshire. He worked as a clerk for Stratton Sons and Mead Grocers of the High St in Melksham. Enlisted February 1916 Somerset Light Infantry, Transferred to East Surreys then to Civil Service Rifles. His Company was holding 'Metropolitan Line' trenches in the Hill 60 sector in the Ypres Salient when a shell struck his section killing him and several comrades. They were buried side by side in Larch Wood (Railway Cutting) cemetery just a stones throw from Hill 60. His grave is IV G 14. There was a photo published of him in the local newspaper (I'll try and get a copy) Plaque in nice unpolished condition to one of the 'Gentlemen' of the army
