DEATH PROOF VARIOUS ARTISTS WARNER BROS. RECORDS 106172-1 - STILL SEALED! A wonderful opportunity to own a rare and limited vinyl issue of this great soundtrack, in immaculate condition! Directors Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez spent $53 million to pay loving tribute to the vintage hundred-thousand-dollar exploitation fare that inspired Grindhouse's two-movies-for-the-price-of-one thrill ride. Tarantino's half of the exercise features another effusive slice of the director's eclectic musical sensibilty to underscore it's manic tale of stuntman/psycho-killer Kurt Russell and his muscle-car-fueled exploits. Tarantino works from a familiar formula that variously mixes evocative, semi-obscure Italian film cues from Morricone and Donaggio, contrasting slices of '60s catalogue from Jack Nitzsche, Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich, with the '70s being represented by Smith and T. Throw in a couple of the director's trademark leftfield oscurities in Eddie Beram's 'Riot In Thunder Alley' and April March's version of 'Chick Habit', and the listener is in for an aural feast! Sleeve: Dynamic image of a muscle car (complete with Death's Head and lightning bolts on the bonnet!) driving at the viewer! Rear image is of a read more
