10 Pc Decanter Set Whiskey Glasses Gold Leaf Libbey Glass Barware Mid-Century DESCRIPTION: This nice matching decanter set by Libbey Glass with 9 whiskey glasses in the Gold Leaf pattern is an example of mid-century entertainment styles and taste. Each whiskey glass is made of clear glass with a frosted band around the center and a six leaf pattern in gold over the frosted glass; the rim of each glass is in gold. The whiskey decanter has a line and dot pattern in the mold, frosted band and matching golf leaf pattern over the frosted area. The decanter and 9 glasses are in excellent condition; there are no chips, cracks, wear or repairs. The manufactures mark on each glass is a cursive ‘L’ within a circle, circa 1955. The decanter has a manufactures mark of ‘Federal Law Forbids the reuse or resale of this bottle’, the letter ‘I’ in a circle (Owens-Illinois Glass Company), R 194, 65 68, the letter ‘L’, circa 1932-1964. COMPANY INFORMATION: Libbey Glass started in 1818 as the New England Glass Company, East Cambridge, Massachusetts and moved to Toledo, Ohio in 1888. The move was prompted by strikes and a costly fuel problem in the East. Northwest Ohio has an abundant supply of natural gas and the Toledo area was ideal for industrial growth.
