Decorah, Iowa 1849-1949 Centennial memorabilia. The event envelope contains the text of a 1909 poem by Viola Coleman Toye titled "Come home, Decorahians, Come!" According to the text that proceeds the poem the Chamber of Commerce had Mrs. H. P. Field "Composed three stanzas as a conclusion to the famous 1909 poem". The poem has Toye's original verses plus Field's addditional ones. About 7-1/2" x 15-1/4". It bears the fold lines from its placement inside the envelope, else in good condition.

The envelope has a Decorah, Iowa Centennial, June 9-12, 1849-1949, 100th Anniversary seal. Decorah Iowa 1949 postmark. Some ink smears, evidence of erased, pencil-written address, creases and some light stains.
