I am selling Don Dedera's 50 year collection of Native American Indian Art, Jewelry and Pottery. No PayPal. Connecticut born-and raised, on my first visit to Arizona Don met me at the airport wearing a Stetson hat, bear claw necklace, Justin boots and this Concha belt. Tall, trim, handsome as a movie star with twinkling eyes I had just met Western heaven. This belt has been worn all over the state of Arizona by Don as he delivered between 300 and 400 speeches on Southwestern subjects. Made the old-fashioned way from a solid pure silver sheet, the belt is an old Pawn genuine Navajo Concha/Concho purchased out of old Pawn at Hubbell's Trading Post in early 1960. Each concha is 2 1/2" x 2", with matching traditional high-relief stamping by a skilled Native American Navajo Indian silversmith. The 3 1/2" x 2 3/4" rectangular buckle also is original, with a high relief old-style stamping. The leather belt measures 38" long The medallions are fastened through copper holders that are individually soldered in place. The silver pieces can all be transferred to a longer belt . A stunning item from a celebrated Arizonan that can be worn by a man or woman. Don Dedera was editor in chief of Arizona Highways magazine, 15 year daily columnist at The Arizona Republic and author of 23 books. He is alive and well in Scottsdale, AZ.
