This is an absolutely spectacular treasure for anyone hooked on the "Defenders of the Earth" animated series. This is a press kit that accompanied the series when a local TV station bought it for syndication in 1986. It includes: 1) a "Defender Gramm" which is a press release about the show including a xerox of a TV-Guide mention of the show; 2) a folder containing B&W sheets of "Defenders" logos and TV-Guide/Newspaper print ads that can be customized for local times/days; 3) a folder containing sysnopses (desciption of plot) of all shows that were to be broadcast 9/29/86 to 10/14/86 and a synopsis of a mini series which aired monday, 11/3/86 to Thursday 11/6/86. This folder also contains the Defenders of Earth "Bible," which is a 14-page booklet that descibes in detail the characters and world of the Defenders of the Earth. This folder is a little crumpled on part of one edge. 4) a 3rd folder conaining a color 8"x10" photo of the Defenders standing behind the Earth with the logo in the foreground; a B&W horizontal photo of all characters on a white background; a B&W, 8"X10", vertical photo of all characters ona dark background; a color 17"x22" color photo which folds into an 8.5"x11" brochure. On the front is artwork of Ming the Merciess standing in front of a death star/dragon looking creature with the question, "Who can save us?" in bold at the top. The brochure opens into a beautiful 17"x22" piece of artwork with the characters, logo and details of the show. On the back of the brochure are details and photos of 8 characters; a list of all items in the kit on "Defenders" letterhead; 2 press realeses on letterhead; 5) 12 beautiful, color, 35mm slides of Flash Gordon, the Phantom, Jedda Walker, Mandrake the Magician, Kshin, Lothar, Rick Gordon, L.J., Ming the Merciless and 3 slides of scenes from the show. 6) a 3/4" video tape (3/4" is a large, professional, formatt that was widely used in broadcasting in the 1980's) which contains :10, :30 and :60 second TV commercials and audio of the theme music. For an extra $20.00 I'll transfer the 3/4" tape to VHS so you can view it in a home unit...or for $35.00 I'll put it on a DVD-R. 7) everything is packaged in a cool, black, box with the color logo in the lower right-hand corner. Since these were only sent out to TV stations running this show, very few were made. This is RARE!!! And it's in excellent condition!!! If you or someone you know likes the "Defenders of Earth," you've gotta have this.
