A very nice early 1900's advertising tin lithographed advertising match safe for The DeLaval Separator Co. This Victorian era die cut agriculture advertising sign style matchholder is made in the shape of the famous DeLaval dairy cream separator. This great dairy or farm advertising match stick holder is in very fine to near mint condition. Some plating loss on the silver colored match bin receptacles is the only thing that keeps this advertising tin hanging match keeper from being mint. All of the lithographed areas are in exceptional condition. No signs that the surface was used as a match striker. I do not think the matchsafe was ever displayed. Beautiful brilliant colors and a nice shine. So brilliant it was hard to get a photo without a reflection. The match keep has not been cleaned or touched up. All of the words and printing are very easy to read The top matchbin is marked on the inside:American Art Sign Co. B'klyn, N.Y. This old dairy equipment advertising give away also advertises for the local seller or distributor. The lower match bin has a small advertising paper sign that says: Rathbun Bros. Co. Implements and Hardware. Heating, Plumbing, Lighting, Pneumatic Water Supply Systems, Lightning Rods, Cream Separators. Milan, ILLS (IL.). I have never seen a Delaval match holder with an applied additional advertising sign. The agricultural advertising match holder states on the front: Save $15 Per Cow Per Year 1,000,000,000 In Use. The DeLaval Separator Co. New York, Chicago, Montreal, San Francisco, Winnepeg, Pat'd July 28, 08 L.T. Savage NY. This great early American manufacturing item would make a great addition to a farm, dairy, or agriculture advertising, advertising sign, or advertising match holder or match safe collection.
