This auction is for a beautiful VIntage Demitasse Porcelain Coffee of Tea set in a pattern called LOVE STORY - by Josef Kuba (JKW). I believe it is from the 1960's - can't confirm. In 1930, the 1896 born Josef Kuba opened a small porcelain factory with its own little decoration studio in the city of Karlsbad - today Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic. At the end of WWII, Kuba re-established his decoration business in a building on Herbstweg road in the southern part of Wiesau (Bavaria). Since then, his work was mainly based on pieces from the Porzellanfabrik factory in Arzberg (Bavaria) or the Heinrich & Co. factory in Selb (Bavaria) although he occasionally used items by other manufacturers like Hutschenreuther of Tirschenreuth. While Kuba decorated many items in a number of different styles like Alt-Wien (Old Vienne) or Rembrandt, he preferred to include transfer applications based on oil paintings by the French artist Jean-Honore Fragonart that mainly depict courting couples - like this set. Resource: PM&M, porcelain marks and more. The pot is 7 1/2" tall and the cups are 3 1/2" X 1 1/2", saucers are 5" in diameter. T are a few minor scratches on the saucers but no chips, flea bites or repairs. This is a gorgeous set! I have seen one cup and saucer sell as high as $60. so this is an excellent offer for a rare and hard-to-find set. read more
