A-OK ARTIQUES is very proud to offer an antique (circa 1868-1900) Ivory Netsuke 1 3/4"h X 1 3/4w of a mischievous Demon Oni surrounded by a group of men from a "bathhouse" sauna, we think. The Ivory carving is "as good as it gets". Netsuke's this good are listed in Miller's Japanese Antique Guide for several thousand dollars. This Netsuke is listed at only $450. As it has a tiny chip on edge of one person's foot. The toes are all t and the very tiny chip (see photos) could be repaired quite easily. It could be sanded smooth or "filled" with an Ivory substitute filler. T is no-one in Oklahoma City who can do this. The Netsuke is quite perfect otherwise. T is a small paper tag that came with this Netsuke which said Meiji and the word Caotihu. We wonder if it was the name of the artist as it is signed (see photo). This Netsuke is just fantastic and incredible. It is a carved Ivory sculpture of the very highest quality. These are rare and scarce.
