Denwar Ceramics (aka Denwar Studios) of Costa Mesa, California was formed in 1946 by Esther Sietmann Warner and her husband Jo Dendel (hence: Den-War). Their dinnerware, inspired by their travels in Africa, was very popular in the 1950s. Dinnerware production ceased in 1961, when they placed their focus on tile and mosaic work. These little plates are 7 1/2" x 7 1/4". Yes, there is color variation (although not as much as the pictures appear to indicate) but of course we want that! I have included a 3rd picture showing the progression of OTHER sizes and shapes that I will be listing in this color. This auction is ONLY for the set of 4 largest plates. They are in excellent condition. This is part of a large group of Denwar dinnerware, including another set of 4 of these in green, which I will be listing over the next week or so. Guinea Gold is the other color. Of course, the green and the gold look great together. There is much fascinating information about Ms. Warner and Mr. Dendel - Google them!
