Dept 56 Dickens' Village Collection Old Globe Theatre Dept 56 Dickens' Village Collection The Old Globe Theatre Description: Dickens' Village Collection The Old London Globe Theatre Manufactured by Department 56 2nd edition, 1998 limited Porcelain Hand painted, with exceptional attention to detail Decorated with Christmas trees, wreaths, and some snow atop the roof Includes the original box (which features a Judith Price review of the Old Globe's history) and a 17 page Heritage Village Collection booklet. The booklet lists (with pictures included) their Dickens' Village, New England Village, Alpine Village, Christmas In The City, and North Pole series. The theatre comes with porcelain Christmas trees and two trumpeting herald figurines. Able to be admired even in the dark: the Globe comes with a cord and two light bulbs. A lovely piece of brilliant craftsmanship, matched only by the Globe's historical significance. It doesn't get much better than this An excellent item for history aficionados or porcelain collectors. The Original Globe Theatre: Originally built in 1598-99 (and opened in 1599), the Globe burned to the ground in 1613 during a performance of Henry VIII. Once rebuilt, the Globe remained in existence until 1642, when the Puritans had it closed. It was demolished in 1644, and would not be reopened until nearly four
