What a fantastic fun set from Dept 56! Here we have Dept 56 Glacier Park Pavilion, for the North Pole Series, Holiday Gift Set of 9 pcs, Special Edition. This was only produced from May 2002 until December 2002. This special edition gift set is just stuffed full with wonderful colors, movement and lights.This nine piece set includes: Glacier Park Pavilion porcelain lighted bulding, with animated skating rink; skating with Santa accessory; 2 elf skaters; 2 Village Winter Birch trees; 2 frosted topiaries; and, one bag of Fresh Fallen Snow. The measurements are 9.5 x 11 x 7.5; 3 x 2; 12"; 9.5"; 5.5"; 8"; 2.75 x 2' 11", and, 3.75". From the box: "...festivities begin just beyond the sisal lined entrance arch, which features metal railings. On the ice, a hidden electric motor powers the magical movement of the skaters gliding over the circular shaped rink". The picture on the box is excellent-it gives you a great idea of the set-up of this incredible ice skating rink. On the Santa accessory, he is holding a real satin blue ribbon that he is getting ready to put over the kneeling boy's neck. Four metal flags also come along with this holiday set - you can see where they are placed on the tops of the house and on top of the arch. These flags are blue with white snowflakes on them. There is also a metal sign of a skating girl included - she is inserted on the top of the arch over the outside Christmas tree in the center of the house. This house is one of those favorites of mine - it is full of glitter!! The glitter just sets everything off brighter and makes it look more like a holiday. Looking at the house straight on, you see the grey porch that has greenery and bushes around it (and lots of glitter). There are two taller Christmas Trees on either side of the front door. The front door is red and has a green wreath with a pair of white roller skates attached to it. There are bay windows on either side of the front door, with greenery over top them. There are red banners hanging from gold rods. Each banner reads, in white, "Glacier Park". In the center of the house, on the second floor, is a beautiful green Christmas tree with a few red ornaments and a red star. Interestingly, this house is different from the one on the box. On the box, over top this tree is a sign that reads "Ice Rink". This has the space painted in with no wordage. Again you can see lots of glitter, greenery and colors while looking at the house. On the right side you can see the "stone" foundation, with another bay window on the first floor and another window on the second floor. The back of the house is every bit as colorful and beautiful as the front. In the back you can see all the windows, the stone foundation and a protrusion of the house. There is a back door here, with a green wreath & red ribbon, full of glitter. There is a sign hanging over this door that reads "Skate Sharpening". On the second floor there is a sweet little balcony that has the same type of railing, foliage and urns as the front porch - and again glorious glitter everywhere. On the skating rink, you can see how it is all enclosed with gold railing and covered with sisal bushes. There are tiny lights attached to the bottom of the railings - these all light and flicker as the skaters skate! This is super nice when you play a favorite up-beat Christmas song while the lights flicker and the skaters skate. The front archway is done in white and gold and has "N.P." on the arch (for the North Pole) of course. This is a large set-up but one that is full of smiles and sure to make any child laugh and smile. I know it makes me smile... CONDITION: Brand New. Taken out of box for inspection by seller in front of me. Taken out by me & helper to examine before mailing. Comes in original styrofoam and box. **NOTE: Because this is already in a huge box and it is very heavy, it is best that it is sent via UPS.
