I did lots of "serious" landscapes, but sometimes it was fun to make more playful paintings. I would have on hand the blank frame (square, uncarved) and a painting panel that fit it. After the painting was finished I would carve and paint the frame to complement it. The frame is made of carved, primed, and painted basswood. These frames kind of remind me of Mexican art. They are playful and add quite a splash of color. The painting is on a canvas-covered wood panel that I made, too (very durable); Lots of detail and lots of paint - fully saturated colors! I stand completely behind all of my work that is for sale, , whenever it was created. Some works listed are as recently painted as in the last few months, others are a decade or more old. But all are recognizably my work. If you like it, that's all that should matter.I am also a competent carpenter. So, many of my canvas stretches were made by me. I also made many of the frames. If a painting is on one of my hand-made stretchers or in one of my hand-made frames, I will try to make note of that, or email me. This does increase the works value - imagine if you owned a Picasso w he made the stretcher and the frame!I am showing mostly landscapes because they are probably the most accessible and popular. But, as I go along I will include a wide variety of work -abstractions, portraits, social and political "cartoons", faux folk art, wooden toys, woodcut prints, and more.
