Diamond Belt 8" x 3" your choice of grit sizes from 100 to 50,000 mesh . This is a NEW 8" x 3 " resin bonded diamond on heavy diamond bond cloth. Choose the mesh size you want from 100, 220, 600, 1200, 3000, 8000, 14000 or 50,000 mesh. (This belt is for use on an expandable drum --not included.) The belt is slipped on the drum and centrifugal force holds it in place when it is running.) One picture shows a belt installed on an expandable drum in my own studio. I have been using Eastwind belts for over 15 years for preforming, sometimes polishing a quartz crystal face and for cutting/polishing cabochons. One picture shows an internally carved quartz crystal (Teddy Bear) that I used Eastwind belts for polishing the crystal surface. Another picture shows a recent rutilated quartz cab that was sanded and polished using Eastwind belts. One picture is a close-up of the surface of a 120 mesh belt after having been used for approx 20 hours grinding quartz -- hardly any wear is noticible! The little white specks are diamonds! Eastwind belts are also great for doing inlay work. If you are making glass beads, stained glass, or silversmithing, they are also excellent. Silversmiths like to use them to touch up a cabochon base that needs cut down or to polish out a burnishing mark. Regardless of the chore, they should be used wet. 3000 mesh and finer grits usually take a longer break-in time. If you want a new belt, or thinking about an upgrade from silicon carbide to diamond, consider the quality of Eastwind. With proper use, a diamond belt will generally last 50 to 100 times longer than silicon carbide! These are American made , not cheap factory seconds or overseas cheapies.
