DIAMOND CLASSICS I

A Numbered Limited Edition card set of 56 cards in full color!

This collection features original limited edition cards made from hand-painted photographs . They were issued in 1982 with the goal of providing collectors - including autograph collectors - quality, limited edition, full-color cards of some of the greatest ballplayers. (Although not issued when the players were active, they are not reprints.)

Published by Big League Collectibles, Inc., this set features popular players from the late 19th century through the late 1960's with an emphasis on the 1930's. It is the first of Big League Collectibles' sets: Original All-Stars from The Game of the Century, Diamond Classics II, and America's National Pastime 1930 to 1939 being the others.

According to the 2003 Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards (Krause), catalog value is $80. Each set comes in its original box; each features a numbered certificate card; all cards utilize a thicker 6-ply cardboard (reminiscent of the 1930's, '40s and fifties baseball cards. Just 10,000 numbered sets were originally issued. The set you receive has an individually numbered certificate card and is in near-mint to mint condition.
