16mo, red leather cover, approx. 48pp. Front endpapers contain some genealogy of the Jackson family. Mr. Jackson, according to the beginning of his diary, Sept 18, 1897, seems to have had a calling April 22nd of that year in which God told him to send a warning to the President of the United States. He seems to have given up everything -- home, friends, creature comforts, even family -- to follow what he perceives to be his calling. He notes that his wife was ill and would probably die, but he left for Washington anyway to do His will. He submitted a letter to the Washington Post, and decided that if it were published, it would be a sign from God that he was on the right track. Apparently the Post published his letter on 23 Sept. 1897. While waiting for this sign, he continued to seek an audience with McKinley.
