A complete 1864 diary belonging to a livery stable and horse dealer in the St Albans, Vermont area- the writer is not named but every day has detailed entries- some social life- playing billiards, going downtown, dinner w friends, but mostly selling colts & mares, pasturing stock, delivery of horses, care, boarding, riding, most entries with names of buyers and owners. Each entry is complete, in pencil. The 6 X 3" diary has pebbled black covers w embossed "Diary 1864", and a New York maker almanac which includes a list of every Civil War battle to date. The diary's owner does not mention the War. An interesting account of life as a Civil War era horse trader. VG.
